Frequently Asked Questions...
what is tool and cutter grinder?
Answer:
Tool & cutter grinders are generally set up for dressing or sharpening cutting tools, such as chisels, drill bits, gouges, plane blades, certain knives, etc. there are types of them which rotate at a relatively slow speed and run in water to keep the wheel from loading up, and to keep the workpiece cool. other types are circular grinding wheels running at relatively high speeds, (up to 1700 R.P.M.) dedicated to the same purpose. For carbide cutting tools used mostly for steel cutting, a softer wheel specially formulated for this purpose is used, these are referred to in the trade as ( green wheels) due to their green color. They are not to be used to grind mild steel alloys, as they will wear very fast cutting these materials.
