Plastic Lollipop
Think Outside the Box for Your Next Christmas Party
Just because Christmas usually evokes thoughts of cold weather and snow it does not mean that your party planning has to follow that same theme each and every year. Consider a few different Christmas party ideas, such as making this one a warm tropical theme. Send out your invitations for a beach themed Christmas party asking the guests to wear something appropriate. Decorate your Christmas tree with flower leis or themed lights that you can find at your local party store or make your own tree skirt with different beach themed decorations added.
You might wish to continue your beach Christmas party theme with the food. Present it in Luau fashion; just lay down some colorful blankets and decorate them with shells and plastic flowers. Since traditional Luau style food might not be readily available you can make do by preparing a baked ham trimmed with pineapple.
If you need ideas for Christmas parties for kids, then consider having a Candy Land Christmas with candy cane and lollipop party decorations. The lollipops can be made by cutting out large circles and covering them with colored plastic wrap, attaching them to dowels and placing them around the yard and house. Consider taking gumdrops and stringing them together to use as garland on the tree or other decorations for the party. A cute idea for each party invitation is to write the details on a piece of paper, roll it up like a scroll, cover it with colored plastic wrap, twist the ends and tie them with colorful ribbon or yarn.
To amuse the children, help them create Christmas party decorations that they can bring house, like a sleigh made of candy. You'll neeed 2 candy canes (curled side up) for the sleigh, fasten a Hershey miniature chocolate bar about 1/4 of the way down above both candy canes and one more right in front of it, then taking one more and attaching it straight with the others to resemble a seat. Take a miniature chocolate Santa, put a bit of adhesive on his feet and attach him to the back of the chair. Get a few small wrapped Dove bars (they have them packaged like gifts) and stick them to the seat like decorated gifts.
Other ideas for Christmas parties may include throwing a Christmas "around the world" party, with different food sections to represent different countries. Or another great party theme is to throw a Charlie Brown Christmas with the little tree with one ornament and another one to represent how it looked later. Use your imagination, as the possibilities are endless.
