Can somebody tell me how to stack this cake!?
I am planning to make a three tier wedding cake (shown on this website http://www.bbc.co.uk/threecounties/content/images/2006/09/08/lvcc_candy_stripe_180x280.jpg ). I don't know how the cake is stacked. Is the cake done with pillars, or acryclic tubes? If it is using pillars or acrylic tubes please can someone explain to me how to use them to stack the cake. Also if anybody has an easy way of doing the candy stripe, let me know.

You would have to stack the cake with dowels, they can be acrylic or wooden, sized to just the top of the cake, like put one in each layer, but what you do is, push one in each cake, and then make it flush with the top of the cake, this gives the cake the support to hold the other cakes on top of it.
For the stripes, it looks like fondant, a LOT of work with fondant! It looks like they took different colors of fondant and made stripes and layed them on top of one solid color of fondant. I would think you'd have to cover each cake in a solid color of fondant, and then cut out stripes of fondant in different colors and attatch them to the cake. I would get LOTS of help with this or plan on doing it over several days. It looks like a ton of work.
What you can do instead is, cover each cake in fondant or even icing, and then do the stripes in different colored icing. That would be a lot easier. Have a few icing bags of different colors of icing and alter the stripes of the icing, that would be a lot less tedious than putting on the fondant stripes.
