Raggedy Ann has been for well over 120 years. there is evidence of the old folk pattern which had no name but still existed.
Around 1900 Johnny Greulle's Daughter Marcella became Ill with Scarlet Fever. Mr Gruelle wrote a series of storie's about Marcella's favorite rag doll,basically just to entertain his then ailing daughter he loved dearly.
Unfortunately Marcella passed away.
Many years later Johnny Gruelle decided to publish his storie's thus giving the basic folk pattern for this doll a name which was then patented for the first time.
