Latch Hooking Question?
I'm latch hooking a 6X10 area rug. I don't mind the shaggy look of it, however I like the back of the rug alot better. I am hooking vertically as well as horizontally to have the best coverage and avoid gaps.
My question is, 1) has anybody ever used the back side of a latch hook as a rug 2) What did you do to the front of the latch hook to keep it from sliding 3) How well does the rubber stuff that you put on it work?
One last question, has anybody ever connected 2 latch hook rug mats together (if they weren't big enough) and how did you do it? I have an idea, but I'd like other's opinions.
Thanks, If you need clarification, let me know. I can also provide pictures if necesary.
Answer:
My Idea on connecting them would be semi similar to the way you do the edges of the rug, Just overlap the two peices by 6 inches (more or less) to get a good "seam" and latch hook through both canvases. (kind of like they way you fold over the edges and latch hook through both parts)
If you like the way the the back looks better you need to look into another technique called locker hooking instead. Then both sides turn out the same and it is a similar look and feel as the back of the latch hook.
